Build the new Lighthouse with us!
… not an actual Lighthouse but a place of refuge and safety for abandoned, neglected, and abused children!
The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
What the Lighthouse is and how it was started
In September 2017 we opened the Lighthouse to give abandoned, abused, and violated babies and children a loving and caring home. The first toddlers we accepted were previously placed in a juvenile detention center because there was no other place for them. Another baby was with her mother in a hopelessly overcrowded women’s prison before she was admitted to the Lighthouse.
The first house was soon filled with babies and children. Two children were found in fields. They were thrown away right after birth.
Others were given up for adoption or brought to the Lighthouse because they were mistreated and abused.
In December 2018 a group of 5 children were rescued from cybersex abuse. Since no other place was found for the children in all of Mindanao, we spontaneously agreed to take them in at the Lighthouse.
For some time already, we had been working on the idea of starting a second home for children who had been rescued from child trafficking, abuse, and slavery. In Mindanao, there is a huge need for such an institution, which provides aftercare programs and long-term support to help these children find their way back into a normal life in freedom.

We are Doreen and Andy Zuberbühler, originally from Germany and Switzerland. We moved with 2 children to the Philippines in 2007 and our third child was born in Manila. For the first 9 years, we worked with two different organizations in street children ministries, orphanages, disaster relief, livelihood projects, and indigenous community projects.
In 2017 we started Timothy Project International Mission and the Lighthouse children’s home, to care for abandoned and neglected children in Mindanao.
In addition, we support children and young people, so that they can go to school and get an education.
Timothy Project also partners with an Elementary school for tribal children in the jungle of the northern Philippines. Our daily feeding program and the simple dormitory helps some of the poorest and most marginalized children go to school and gives them hope for a brighter future.
